What are your recommendations for the Nevada Financial Security Taskforce?
Good news! The Financial Security Taskforce (explained below) of the legislature had its first meeting last week. Now it’s time to hear from you. The Education Policy Advocacy (EPA) Network of Opportunity Alliance hosted a listening session (webinar) in partnership with Prosperity Now on 1-9-18 to gather your feedback about the most pressing financial security topics that are facing the communities you serve. We’re interested in ideas that you hope the taskforce consider and examples of what is working in your community that would be helped by policy change. We will relay these interests to the taskforce as they consider their goals and priorities.
Financial Security Taskforce Explained: SB118 was enacted during the 2017 Legislative session. This bill creates the Nevada Task Force on Financial Security, consisting of nine voting members, to conduct a comprehensive examination during the 2017-2018 legislative interim of the financial security of individuals and families in Nevada, including, without limitation, their opportunities to build assets and reduce debt. The Taskforce is required to submit a report of its findings and recommendations to the Legislative Counsel Bureau on or before September 1, 2018.
